从空间站拍摄到的飓风弗莱迪

Cyclone Freddy is pictured northeast of the island nation of Mauritius from the International Space Station as it orbited 267 miles above the Indian Ocean on Feb. 20, 2023. On the space station are two NASA-built weather instruments, the Compact Ocean Wind Vector Radiometer (COWVR) and the Temporal Experiment for Storms and Tropical Systems (TEMPEST), that track tropical cyclones like Freddy. Launched in late 2021 to the space station, COWVR measures the speed and direction of wind at the ocean surface, and TEMPEST provides atmospheric water vapor measurements. Dec. 22, 2022 — Expedition 68 Flight Engineer and NASA spacewalker Josh Cassada prepares a roll-out solar array for its deployment on the International Space Station’s (ISS) Port-4 truss segment as the orbiting lab flew 262 miles above the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Namibia. Astronauts Frank Rubio and Josh Cassada conducted a spacewalk on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, for seven hours and eight minutes to install the new roll-out solar arrays to upgrade the station’s power system. The new ISS Roll-Out Solar Arrays (iROSAs) will increase power generation capability by up to 30%, increasing the station’s total available power from 160 kilowatts to up to 215 kilowatts. It was the 257th spacewalk in support of space station assembly, upgrades, and maintenance, and was…

In this 20-second exposure from Oct. 5, 2022, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying the company’s Crew Dragon spacecraft is launched on NASA’s SpaceX Crew-5 mission from our Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the International Space Station (ISS). This is the fifth crew rotation mission of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket to the ISS as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program. The crew successfully docked and entered the space station on Oct. 6, 2022. Aboard, the crew will conduct new scientific studies to prepare for human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit and benefit life on Earth.
